In With The Old New Season Features J.THOM

Margaux & Kevin Pelegrin, Philadelphia residents & real estate professionals, received a text alert indicating a new listing was on the market. Within seconds Kevin received another text. This one was sent by his wife who said, “We have to buy this immediately.” Shortly after, they were under contract for a quintessential Rittenhouse Square home totaling 6000 square feet. Little did they know, an entire episode of Magnolia Network’s “In with the Old” would revolve around this project a few years later.

Just a few blocks away on Pine Street, it’s business as usual for Jason Thompson’s design firm, J.THOM. That morning, Jason received a text from Margaux "Kevin and I did a crazy thing and bought a house. Of course, it needs everything, but it is filled with incredible details. We are doing the inspection and were hoping you might be around to walk through?"

“We did a project a few years ago for Margaux. In fact, the photo of their kitchen from our first project is one of our most liked photographs on social media. We were thrilled to be called upon again to be a part of the restoration of this magnificent home.”

Jason and one of his lead designers, Lauren Strain, toured the historic home with Margaux and Kevin so they could begin their work for them in the kitchen & primary bath. An integral part of the kitchen is the crockery, a cabinet used in the early 1900’s to store just about everything needed in the kitchen. Jason & Lauren planned to make it the focal point of the kitchen and needed to decide how to blend the old with the new. While an antique specialist began his work restoring the piece, Jason & Lauren began drawing plans and working with our custom finishing team to see just how closely they could match the patina of this heirloom crockery cabinet.

“The story of this home and the transformation are remarkable. It’s worth watching. We were honored to be included in the project which spanned almost two years. I think the Pelegrin’s have found their forever home.”
